Our Mission
MolePack exists for one reason: to help you make better buying decisions about the gear you carry every day. We test EDC and tactical equipment thoroughly and report our honest findings — good, bad, and ugly.
We're not a retailer. We don't sell gear. We don't take free samples in exchange for positive reviews. Every product we review is purchased with our own money at retail price, just like you would buy it.
How We Test
Every product goes through a standardized testing process before it gets a review score:
- 30-day minimum carry period: We carry and use the product daily for at least 30 days before writing our review.
- Real-world testing: Products are used in actual everyday scenarios — not just lab conditions. We use them at work, at home, outdoors, and in emergencies.
- Objective measurements: Where applicable, we measure specs with proper tools (lux meters for flashlights, scales for weight, calipers for dimensions).
- Drop and durability tests: Products are dropped from waist height onto concrete 3 times to test build quality.
- Water resistance tests: Waterproof claims are verified by actual submersion (for IPX8) or water spray (for IPX4/IP66).
- Comparative testing: Products are compared head-to-head with direct competitors in the same price range.
Our Rating System
We use a 5-star rating system based on these weighted criteria:
- Performance (30%): Does it do what it claims? How well?
- Build Quality (25%): Materials, construction, durability.
- Value (20%): Is it worth the asking price compared to alternatives?
- Ergonomics/Usability (15%): How does it feel and function in real use?
- Portability/Carry (10%): Weight, size, and how it carries.
Editorial Independence
We are an affiliate site — we earn commissions when you buy through our links. This is how we fund our testing and keep the site running. However:
- We never accept payment for positive reviews.
- We never accept free products in exchange for coverage (manufacturers can send products, but they go through the same testing process and we disclose when a product was provided).
- Affiliate relationships never influence our ratings or recommendations. We recommend the best product, period — even if we don't have an affiliate relationship with the seller.
- If we update a review because a product failed during long-term testing, we say so clearly.
Who We Are
MolePack was founded in 2026 by EDC enthusiasts who were tired of sponsored "reviews" that were really just advertisements. We believe gear reviews should be honest, thorough, and independent.
The name "MolePack" is a nod to the MOLLE (Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment) system used in tactical gear — and to the idea of digging deep to find what's worth carrying.
